We do this by hosting stroke education & awareness health fairs across America. Our mission is to visit 30 major cities especially those located in the stroke belt region of southeastern United States.
Reducing the number of strokes via prevention by performing early detection screenings will automatically reduce the long-term healthcare cost to the United States after a stroke.
Medical Biography of Ivan Arthur Sims
Through the powers of God, curiosity and the spirit of wanting to help others, Ivan became interested in the cardiovascular system and how it functions to better understand the suffering his father was experiencing due to poor circulation. His father developed cardiovascular disease at the young age of 54 so Ivan began reading medical books on the disease. One particular book called Grey’s Anatomy became his subject of study. With minimal medical background experience or training, he set out to learn the dynamics of the disease. In 1981 he began training as a Sonographer with Dr. Lorenzo Johnson, a Podiatrist practicing in Los Angeles California. Dr. Johnson pioneered the noninvasive technique of monitoring blood flow throughout the body and started providing local doctors with the first mobile medical diagnostic imaging service in Los Angeles. He hired Sims as his chief technologist. Ironically, Sims later learned that stroke was prevalent throughout his family tree so began educating his family members and started screening family and friends as his solution to the prevention of stroke. His dedication has proven invaluable to many in hopes of making an impact on U.S. stroke statistics. Unfortunately before he began his mission, he lost an older brother to a massive stroke. An autopsy revealed carotid artery blockage. Sims began his journey with a goal to reduce the increasing number of reported strokes amongst Americans. He currently lectures on stroke awareness by hosting health fairs and performs screen test by using two dimensional ultrasound imaging with color flow Doppler to locate plaque buildup along the walls of the carotid arteries located on both sides of the neck. Carotids transport blood from the heart to the brain. Having 35 years of experience Sims has his hands full and brings life saving medical technology to your doorstep. His findings are transmitted via satellite to Board Certified Radiologist for interpretation. Sims founded Stroke Free Zone in February 2016, a nonprofit charitable organization focused on reducing the overall deaths statistics caused by stroke. Early detection is everyone’s responsibility.
